The feedback from the workshops held in March 2009 and the survey of the 660 plus businesses within the BID area, conducted in November and December 2009, identified many suggestions on how to improve the business performance and environment. Further consultation and research will assist the Steering Group to refine these; identify the most appropriate ones. The BID Steering Group will ensure that the proposals are measurable, achievable and are not part of the statutory obligations of another agency.
It is likely that during the 5 year period of the Business Plan, new opportunities and projects will come forward which we could not have predicted when preparing this proposal. It is for this reason that we have included a contingency fund.
The Steering Group has identified the most likely footprint for the proposed BID area, shown with a list of streets contained within that footprint, and has set a threshold of £27,500 rateable value.
If the ballot is successful, all businesses within the BID area, with rateable values of £27,500 and above, would be liable to pay 1% of the rateable value of their property for each of the five years that the initial BID would run. Please note that this is based on the rateable value, not what you pay, details of your business value were sent to you in March by the Rates Assessors Office.
This proposal document will be used for further consultation, and will be adjusted according to any changes identified. This will then form the business plan for the five years. Every effort will be made to ensure that you and the appropriate eligible person get a copy.
